Impact of partnership work done in 2025 (ISC annual Census 2026)
Impact Statement
Solihull School is working in close collaboration with Reynald’s Cross Special School across a range of curriculum and co-curricular areas. Reynald’s Cross caters for pupils with severe to profound learning difficulties and their students have visited Solihull School to use sport and music facilities. Solihull School pupils go to Reynald’s Cross to teach dance and to assist in physical education lessons. Our grounds team have helped run the gardening club. We are actively looking for new ways to engage with and support our partner school.
In January 2018 an MOU was signed with Tile Cross Academy with a view to exploring curriculum links, full bursary pathways into our Sixth Form and joint visits with e.g. Cadets and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The school’s Outreach Programme arranges and hosts a variety of activities involving local maintained primary schools on a variety of topics and activities, as well as providing sports coaching and tournaments.
Oxbridge preparation classes, events and trips are offered to a range of local maintained schools and potential candidates from partner schools are offered the opportunity to have a practice interview.
The Debating Society hosts events for local secondary schools, including from the maintained sector, involving training, judging and attendance at our Big Debate event.
Our Community Service enrichment programme sends students to help with reading and literacy in local primary schools.
Equipment and text books no longer required by the school are donated to local schools and organisations.
Solihull Sings is a unique choral outreach programme which brings local primary school children together in song. It has grown to involve 1000 pupils across 14 different schools in the borough. The Choirmaster visits 3 primary schools each term, working with classes of Year 4 and 5 children to prepare for the final Celebration Concert in the school’s theatre hall. Participating schools include: Greswold, Chapel Fields, Ulverley, St Alphege Junior, Lapworth, Kineton Green, Cheswick Green, St Augustine’s Solihull, Shirley Heath, Sharman's Cross, George Fentham
Our Art department regularly hosts staff and pupils and displays exhibits from many local maintained primary schools and in 2018, hosted the Springfield Special School Christmas and Remembrance art workshops. They also provided advice and exemplar materials for the maintained sector school A Level photography students. Silk painting workshops from Reynalds Cross School and Springfield House are annual events.
Our Head of Classics is a committed member of the Birmingham Classics Association and is involved in setting up Latin as a primary language at the Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy Company. In addition the Classics Department holds regular lectures for students and CPD for teachers.
