Need for cultural experience of pupils to be developed and academic enrichment through mandarin teaching.
Pupils within primary schools are beneficiaries, who then role model to others within community.
Background
Funding available through Swire Trust - successful bid made. Development plan implemented and partnerships agreed. Established September 2017.
Resources
Funding from Swire Trust for curriculum delivery and support. Teaching staff used alongside Mandarin teachers employed by the programme. Board overseeing programme made up of members of NHSG SLT and teaching staff.
Impact
Attendance data will be available over time as registers are taken for all sessions both extra and intra-curricular.
Continued uptake will be measured at the end of every year.
Assessment Data and Examination results over time will be made available over time using Chinese accredited assessment systems HSK and YCT accreditation
Pupil Involvement
370 pupils across all participating schools are involved. Age range from 5-18. Both boys and girls are involved in the programme.
Frequency
Weekly teaching and activity programme, running throughout the academic year. Further development and expansion planned - 3 year development plan currently in place. Expected to run indefinitely.
