STEM Activity Day
Pupils from Ashdene Primary joined Year 4 pupils from The Ryleys School on a STEM activity day. Activities included making boats which would float, catapults and kit car racing challenges using the school facilities.
Aims
To provide an opportunity to use the outdoor learning area, science laboratory and kit car in a collaborative project which would enthuse pupils about STEM and increase skills and knowledge, benefiting from specialist teachers.
Background
Links had been formed with Ashdene Primary from a previous project in this academic year when local schools were invited to use the school's resources.
Resources
Outdoor learning area, kit cars and science laboratory.
Specialist science, design and technology teachers.
Half a day in school, use of school resources and children invited for lunch. The Ryleys School provided this at no cost.
Impact
Experience of new learning opportunities. Increased knowledge regarding subject area of STEM and DT.
