Spiritual and Musical Partnership with Portsmouth Cathedral

PGS, founded in 1732, has enjoyed a spiritual connection to Portsmouth Cathedral for well over two Centuries now.  The Cathedral provides a centre for worship and a venue for the whole school to gather in celebration.

Background

The Cathedral Committee work closely with the school with numerous joint events, offering cultural, musical and spiritual opportunities for our pupils, many of whom benefit from the Cathedral’s choral heritage.

Pupil Involvement

PGS offers assistance to the Cathedral through the provision of a Cathedral Organists and a team of Choral and Organ Gap Student Staff who work across the school and the Cathedral, offering their considerable musical talents in support of the Cathedral’s programme of services and events.  PGS pupils and Choral Scholars have long been a crucial element of the Chamber Choir.
