Educational Teaching and Learning Partnership with Mayfield School

In recent years, PGS has established a partnership with Mayfield School, a state maintained co-educational school in the North of the city. 

As Mayfield grows to include its own primary section, several opportunities for sharing good practice have emerged, enabling us to work together for the benefit of pupils across both schools.

PGS pupils enjoy volunteering with their Infants; we have offered placements for Mayfield teachers who would not otherwise gain A level teaching experience in their own 11-16 school; PGS teachers have benefited from a joint Initial Teacher Training programme; and an emerging programme of sustainability based initiatives focused on each school’s pupil led Eco-Council has enabled pupils in both schools to develop an awareness of the long term needs of our two communities.  The Head of Mayfield is an active member of the PGS Governors Education Committee, providing cross-sector input and insight.  PGS also co-sponsors a bespoke scholarship programme for Mayfield pupils aspiring to join the PGS Sixth Form.
