Science Partnership Day

Our Science Partnership Day involved 32 Year 5 children from 8 local state schools.

During their time with us they rotated aroudn three different actvities - Farm (pigs, chickens and Bees); Chemistry activity (Indicators, acids and alkalis) and Physics (electrical circuits - making a torch to takeaway and VG generator).

It was a fantastic half day visit for children and staff.

Aims

Lambrook has established a rolling programme of Educational Partnership days, aiming to share our resources and specialist teachers with our local schools.  We feel that there is great benefit in children and staff coming together to investigate new topics, share ideas and to collectively engage with academic topics.

Background

The ISSP initiative sees Lambrook engage with local schools twice a term offering a different academic focus each time.  Lambrook has established a new programme with a focus on partnership; encouraging collaboration between all schools involved.

Resources

A large number of School resources have been used includingScience Labs, classrooms and our Farm. Beyond this, a significant number of staff were fortunate enough to be involved in the day, all keen to share their resources and expertise.

Impact

The day involved 32 children from 8 different schools.  We hope that we have helped to further stimulate curiosity around Science, as well as offering wider independent learning and investigative skills, which the children can then apply to other areas of their education.

Pupil Involvement

The children were aged between 9 years and 10 years.  There was a balance of genders and a broad mix of academic ability.

Frequency

The Science Partnership Day is part of our ongoing provision and will occur on a yearly basis.
