Musical Theatre Visit to Local Schools - January 2023

Four principals from our College musical, Fame, our musical director and our arts educational partner, Arts International with a professional West End performer, provided several local schools a very special ninety-minute practical workshop and masterclass covering aspects of theatre and performance technique, including dancing, acting and singing.  Provided free of charge to children in Year 5 and 6. Each child received an certificate of participation. In addition 12 children from each school were identified for their talent, engagement and passion and were awarded with show tickets for them and their family to watch the College’s Musical in February 2023 by the outreach team.

The event featured instructional sessions where students received guidance on performance techniques, focusing on the utilisation of their voice, actions, and characterisation. The St Joseph's College musical outreach went beyond mere instruction, actively engaging and inspiring pupils' creativity.

Through this initiative, students not only honed their artistic skills but also experienced a notable boost in confidence. The program proved instrumental in developing essential life skills, including effective communication, teamwork, and leadership. By providing a platform for creative expression, the musical outreach at St Joseph's College aimed to empower students with a holistic set of abilities that extend beyond the stage, enriching their personal and interpersonal development.

Impact

The event's objectives encompassed the establishment of cross-sectional friendships and partnerships within the realm of the performing arts. Attendees sought to foster connections that transcended traditional boundaries, fostering collaborative endeavors and mutual support.

Furthermore, a key focus of the gathering was to enhance cohesion between schools. The aim was to strengthen the bonds and collaboration among educational institutions, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within the performing arts community. This endeavor was not only about individual relationships but also about creating a broader network that promotes collective growth and synergy among participating schools.
