Latin In the Community with St Aloysius' Catholic Primary School, Oxford
In this peer-to-peer teaching initiative, both pupil-teachers and pupil-learners gather a different experience of teaching and learning.
Aims
Aims to enable pupils to help each other. Most local primary schools do not have Latin as part of their learning.
Background
Former member of staff, Dr Peter Norton, identified a gap in the provision of classics teaching and proposed and established the programme. The LITC Programme has been running for 8 years. We initially worked with pupils from SS Philip and James primary School and added St Aloysius 4 years ago. By mutual agreement the partnership with SS Philip and James is not currently operating but we are ready to respond as and when they have sufficient pupil take up. Over 60 Dragon pupils and 150 primary school pupils have benefitted from this project.
