Impact of partnership work done in 2019 (ISC annual Census 2020)

  • 6 state schools involved
  • 200 to 500 state school pupils involved
  • 1100 staff hours given

*Please note, data shown here is from the 2020 Census for partnerships in 2019, rather than from the 2021 Census. This is due to the impact of COVID-19 on full year collection for 2021. The coronavirus pandemic has forced many schools to put some partnership projects on hold until restrictions are eased.

Impact Statement

We hosted the Dragon/Oxford Philharmonic Workshops and Concert – 67 year 4, 5 and 6 pupils and 10 staff from local primary schools engaged in a day of shared learning and making music. We provided transport for 3 schools and comprehensive administration. 5 Dragon staff supported.

We organised, administered and co-hosted with Oxford High School a Year 3 Singing Day -335 children (241 from state schools) and staff from 5 local primary schools. 2 Dragon staff supported the primary school teachers in preparation and funding of resources and rehearsals. We provided transport for 3 schools.

In collaboration with St Catherine’s College, Oxford University, we organised for 45 Year 5 Blackbird Academy pupils and 5 staff to experience a day in the life of an Oxford student and College. 15 Dragon pupils also attended.

We provided 6 week long work experience placements for Year 10 & 11 pupils at both our Prep and Pre-Prep sites, for children from local state schools.

We ran training sessions for 22 Parent Volunteers in Reading and Speech and Language. The parents volunteer at 2 schools in Blackbird Leys (Windale and Orchard Meadow)and we have trained existing Pegasus School volunteers at their request.

We have hosted tournaments that have included both Primary and Secondary state schools in both Rugby and Netball.

The Governors of the Dragon School recognise that independent school fees are now at levels that exclude many children from a Dragon education. To help parents, the Dragon offers financial assistance to help with fees in the form of means-tested bursaries, a Forces discount and FCO discount. Please contact the Admissions team for more information.

  • H M Forces discounts
  • Bursaries for new entrants
  • Hardship awards for existing pupils
