Inter-Schools Debate for pupils in year 7&8 and dinner at New College, Oxford.
A further collaboration between New College School, (NCS), Cheney School, Oxford Spires Academy (OSA)and Oxford University which is now an annual Inter-Schools Debate for pupils in year 7&8 and dinner at New College, Oxford.
Aims
To strengthen links with partner schools and provide opportunties for all pupils to debate ad socialise outside their schools. Particulalry focused on younger pupils in year 7 & 8. To use UGs as mentors and role models. To provide open access to the University. To enable colleagues at all schools to form closer bonds.

The wider community in terms of giving pupils confidence for pupils to participate in future decision making at school and beyond, to takeon leadership roles and to make their voices heard.

Oxford University provide venue, refreshements and UGs to moderate.
Accompanying teaching staff on the day and in preparation through a debate club at lunch-time over 3 month period, once a week throughout Michaelmas term. Director of Educational Partnerships prepares NCS teams over three lunch-time activity sessions prior to November debate. One meeting with partner school colleagues to agree 'Motions' and logisitics but otherwise preparation takes place at individual schools.
No financial contribution. Services,venue and resources are offered free of charge.

Pupil Involvement
12 pupils from each school make up the teams with reserve participatory students too. 42 in total approx. Yrs 7 and 8, mixed genders.
Other pupils benefit by taking part in the debate club even if they don't become part of the Debate Team approximatey a further 14 pupils.
