Community Engagement
Gayhurst School is heavily involved with the local community, from promoting activities of local groups, providing a venue for training or raising funds for charities.
These activities include:
Year 6 Enterprise project; Design, make & sell products to help raise funds for 'Success Charity' providing brighter futures for children with Brain Tumours.
Gerrards Cross Girls Cricket Team U11's use Gayhurst cricket square and equipment for training and matches.
Promoting Activities & Events for Local Community Groups, Events & St James' Church, Gerrards Cross in school newsletter & noticeboards.
Thomas Franks (Gayhurst Catering Company) partnered with Under One Sky preparing, cooking, and delivering 300 Christmas dinners to the Homeless in London on Christmas Day.
The school donates produce to local food banks as part of their Harvest Festival food drive.
A police dog training section used the school buildings to train their police dogs.
As part of 'Smile Day 2019,' Gayhurst Year 6 pupils participated in activities within the local area. Including litter picking, art and Games with residents at Leonard Cheshire Care Home and Buckingham House Care Home, Choir Singing at Waitrose Gerrards Cross, and bag packing at a local supermarket.
Gayhurst School held a 'Choir Concert for the Community' in December. Local residents were invited to the school for an evening of carol singing. Refreshments were also provided.
Gayhurst School remained open during the Coronavirus lockdown for children of key workers. There were key worker children in school every week since the beginning of lockdown - up to 20 key worker children were in school and required care. Staff members at Gayhurst were on a rota to be come in to the school to support the key worker children; there were approximately ten staff in every day.
Gayhurst School was one of the sponsors of the GX Fun Run. The School had a stall at the event and members of staff attended to support and participate in the run.
Gayhurst School was a sponsor of the Gerrard's Cross Feast of St Peter event in June. The school had a stall with free games and prizes for the children.
