Community Action

The school goes out into the community on a regular basis, usually once a week to do work in the community. We visit old people's homes; we have worked in the environment with The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust, The National Trust at Chirk Castle and the Canal and River Trust at Aston lock. Undertaking gardening for a public park, producing posters for a company run by disabled people and putting up displays and garden boxes in the town.

Aims

It aims to promote a better relationship between the school and the local community.  It reinforces the benefits and rewards that the pupil's can obtain when helping members of the local community whilst at the same time enriching the local community as a whole.

Pupil Involvement

The project is pupil lead with minimal teacher input. Both boys and girls are involved in the project and ages range from 16 - 18 years.

Frequency

The group operates during term-time and usually works with the community once a week.
