British Chamber Orchestra - Orchestra of the Swan
The Warwick Schools Foundation’s partnership with the Orchestra of the Swan is transformative, offering young people across Warwickshire access to the Foundation’s exceptional facilities and the expertise of the Swan’s professional musicians. The musicians visit local schools, delivering tailored workshops that inspire students and encourage a new generation of musicians. They also offer instrumental lessons to those students already pursuing an instrument. CV34 schools are invited to an annual 'Come and Play' day where they are encouraged to try a variety of orchestral instruments and play alongside the orchestra.
Pieces are regularly preformed at the foundation’s Bridge House Theatre, which the public are welcome to attend.
Aims
To share musical expertise and inspire students.
Background
The Swan’s partnership with Foundation schools is unique – embedded in our music provision, they provide opportunities for pupils that are rarely seen in education between the ages of 3 and 18. These include workshops with renowned conductor Rebecca Miller, an experience that would be difficult to get even at Music College; the opportunity to play side-by-side with the professional Swan orchestra; and the chance to watch the Swan’s open rehearsals before concerts.
Pupil Involvement
Primary and secondary age pupils. Mixed gender.
