Bedales School and King's Arms

The Bedales / King's Arms scheme is part of a multi-strand project where Bedales Sixth Formers are invited to volunteer at the King's Arms centre on a weekly basis, it is also part of the Bedales Enrichment programme which aims to explore our founder’s notion that education be based on the ethos of “Head, Hand and Heart”. The King's Arms Youth Project is a charity that has been set up to meet the needs of the young people of Petersfield and the surrounding villages including young carers and those with special educational needs. It runs a range of activities for different age groups from arts and crafts to cooking and mentoring sessions. Bedales students have been involved in supervising and leading on these activities.

Interaction with the world beyond the school gates is central to learning and we ensure students have the opportunity to work alongside others, locally, nationally and globally. Our partnership with the Kings Arms means students can get to know those in the local community and vice-versa and aims to encourage an appetite for collaboration and discussion.

Background

Bedales community work and volunteeing is based on John Badley's notion that education be based on the ethos of “Head, Hand and Heart”.
