The School participates in a local Science initiative with four local schools. Our facilities are utilised free of charge and academic staff assist across local schools and support an annual study trip to the CERN facility in Geneva. Staff meet regularly to share ideas aimed at widening participation in Physics.
The School is delighted to have a well-established relationship with a local school which educates pupils with a range of complex learning needs.
Year 10 pupils have worked with pupils each week, helping with physical education and art lessons, and also attending the school during lunchtime breaks. Year 8 pupils assisted staff in running their annual Sports Day and the Chapel Choir visited at Christmas to sing carols. The Estates team have volunteered their time and skills to assist with maintenance and grounds work at the school.
Educational Outreach and Support
The Year 12 & 13 (Sixth Form) lecture and information programme has continued apace with pupils and staff from local schools enjoying a wide range of topics from leading speakers in the fields of economics, medicine and science, in addition to a gripping talk from a Holocaust survivor.
One of our staff is a voluntary Chaplain for Northamptonshire Police cadets, whilst our own Chaplain supported local churches by assisting with local services as required.
The School has again participated in the local Carnegie Prize Book Scheme with several local schools from the maintained sector.
The School continues to offer apprenticeship, training and work-experience opportunities to local college and University students – this year students from the local University taking Early Years qualifications and other educational courses have enjoyed placements within the Pre-Preparatory School and Senior School.
We have hosted pupils from a number of local schools via masterclasses in Drama and Art organised by the Prep School and through Sports Outreach provided in conjunction with local rugby clubs.
The School CCF Indoor Shooting Range is used by the local ATC and Sea Cadets. In addition, pupils from a local school are encouraged to join the Cadet Force at School.
Over the course of the year the School has also hosted District Chess Championships, First Aid Competitions and numerous Holiday Activity Clubs with involvement from local schools, clubs and other organisations.
