Impact Statement

In June each year we offer a kick 25 swim recovery scheme for Year 6 pupils at local state schools who cannot swim 25 metres. We offered this scheme again in June 2018 but only had two primary schools take up the offer. The pool is still offered free of charge but the cost of the swimming instructors is met through the primary schools PE funding.

In the summer holiday we take 30 pupils from local state primary schools to attend our Summer Action Programme. The number of funded places has been reduced to 30 by the trustees of the King Henry V111 charity, but they are still selected due to disadvantages in their lives by the individual Heads. Funds provide a five day place per pupil.

Dan Partridge, who is Deputy Co-ordinator of Community Activities continues to do outreach teaching in three local schools totalling two days per week. This is funded from the Primary PE fund, with the aim of improving curriculum PE.

We currently have six boys volunteering on a regular Friday afternoon and expect more to start after Christmas, as the options are being changed. Placements include the local food bank and charity shops.

Exhibition of Young Local Artists, Warwick School has been host to this event since 1985 which just 5 schools attending. In 2018 we had 28 local primary school taking part. The event brings together local primary schools to celebrate art and showcase young talent.

A new initiative in 2018, making music, brings children from many of the local junior schools to share their musical talents and skills. In 2018 there were about 15 children involved with the day culminating in a short informal performance where the young musicians performed the pieces they had been learning.

Warwick continues to offer University and Oxbridge Interview Practice for pupils at nearby schools which prove very popular. Each year 25-30 pupils are supported from schools such as Campion, Aylesford and Myton.

Warwick in partnership with Clare College Cambridge and King's High School, take part in the Clare College Young Scholars Programme. This involved inviting Year 5 children from six local primary schools. This year saw 28 boys taking part in Classics, Physics and Maths workshops followed by a full day's visit to Clare College.

Following on from British Science Week, Warwick School hosted 180 local primary school children to see a series of experiments performed by Mr Grant from our Chemistry department. The children were treated to a variety of short, spectacular experiments where they observed changes of state and energy.
