Impact Statement

Science Department’s ongoing collaboration with Capel Primary – we have had three workshops so far, each focusing on the different disciplines.

Science Department’s ongoing collaboration with Mascalls (an 11-18 year old State Academy)– we are currently working with 10 of their students and 10 of ours, to design build and test karts as part of ‘Go Go Go-Kart’. Last year, we worked again with 20 students as part of ‘Operation Deep Space’ and each were awarded with a Bronze Crest Award.

Modern Foreign Languages Department annually welcome Horsmonden Primary, Langton Green Primary, Lamberhurst Primary and St James Primary to Kent College for a cross-curricular language day.

English – Our Librarian welcomes children from Lamberhurst Primary, Pembury Primary and Capel Primary to our Author Visits when they come to Kent College. We recently welcomed a visiting author to talk about his experience of creative writing. Students listened to him recall stories and tell inspiring tales, before answering questions from the audience. Lamberhurst Primary joined Kent College students for the author's visit.

Sport Partnerships: Annually we host a Netball Versatility Morning where Kent College staff provide a morning of coaching, skills and drills training before umpiring a versatility tournament. This year we are welcoming 16 state schools to the morning to encourage and support netball in primary schools.

Outdoor Education: Annually our Head of Outdoor Education at Kent College welcomes Year 2 students from Capel Primary for a forest school session. The students make wooden pendants, mud faces on trees, have designed a picture out of natural materials and made patterns on cottons from leaves.

Awards

We are proud to offer a range of Scholarship and Exhibition awards for Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form. These are available for Academic, Art, Dance, Drama, Music and Sport.

Each scholarship is supported by an outstanding programme of supervision, mentoring, enhancement and extracurricular activities, and our scholars are expected to play an active and positive role amongst students and be ambassadors for their discipline throughout their time at KC.

Scholarships

Every Scholarship includes a fixed annual award of £2,000 which is deducted from the first term's fees each year. This award is given to pupils demonstrating a particularly high standard of achievement or potential regardless of financial need. Scholarships are reviewed annually and subject to satisfactory performance and commitment. Pupils can hold up to three Scholarship awards (Academic and two practical awards).

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are awarded to scholarship applicants who show great potential. They will be part of the Scholarship programme but not receive a financial award. It is expected that they will use their Exhibition status to enhance their application for a Scholarship at the next opportunity.

Bursaries

Kent College is committed to broadening access to the school by offering to eligible parent/guardians means tested financial support towards the payment of school fees in the form of bursary awards.

Parents/guardians seeking a bursary are required to complete an application form which seeks to establish the financial circumstances of the household. The form requests details of income and capital, and must be accompanied by full documentary evidence.

Bursaries are only available for the Senior School and once an offer of place has been made. Paperwork is distributed in December and the application deadline is January 31st of the year you wish to enter. Decisions regarding bursaries are made by the end of February ahead of the acceptance deadline in March.
