Impact Statement

The School supports local children's charities, Riding for the Disabled, Swings and Smiles, for example, by pupils visiting every week during term-time and by raising funds. The impact is more engagement is made available to children and more school-aged children benefit. Weekly support is also provided to local primary schools for reading and general support in the local school which supports children with specific learning needs. In addition, a joint Oxbridge preparation evening is hosted by Downe House for local schools, lectures are open to community schools too. Two members of staff serve on local school governing bodies.

Downe House is highly committed to opening its access to the education it offers to those girls who would otherwise be denied the opportunity of a boarding experience of the highest calibre and quality. In particular the School wants to increase their bursary provision, so that the pupils can benefit from the academic, cultural, sporting and social experiences that Downe House provides. For more information see theirĀ scholarships and bursaries offered here.
