London Academy of Excellence (LAE) Stratford

London Academy of Excellence (LAE) Stratford is a 16-19 state sixth form located in Stratford in the London Borough of Newham. It is the product of a unique collaboration between six of the UK’s leading independent schools (Brighton College, Caterham, Eton, Forest, Highgate and UCS), with financial support from HSBC.

LAE was established in 2012 in response to a local shortage of academic A-Level provision in the authority. Its vision and core purpose is to promote social mobility through education by providing a high quality A-Level education to able students from disadvantaged backgrounds aspiring to win places at top universities.

In the intervening 7 years, with the support of its partner schools, LAE has done just this. The school has rapidly gained a local and national reputation for educational excellence, achieving some of the best A-Level results of any state sixth form or school in the UK. These impressive outcomes have enabled record numbers of young people to fulfil their ambition of securing highly sought after places on competitive degree courses at some of the UK’s leading universities.

LAE offers an academic A-Level curriculum made up of mainly ‘facilitating’ subjects designed to maximise student’s prospect for university entry. Students’ academic programmes of study are complemented by a rich and varied co-curricular offer designed to develop students’ character, confidence and to promote LAE’s core values of kindness, excellence, resilience, independence, humility and respect.
