Year 5 Activity Day

The Year 5 Activity Day is run by members of our teaching staff and last year involved the participants making a parachute for an egg drop competition, making pancakes in Food Technology, making a key ring in Textiles and attending a music session.

This event is attended by both State Primary Schools and Independent Junior Schools, including Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) and Wakefield Girls' High School (WGHS) Junior Schools.

The state schools involved are: Flanshaw Junior, Gawthorpe Primary, Jerry Clay Academy, Pinders Primary, Rooks Nest Academy, The Vale Primary and West Brettion Junior. Independent Schools involved at Queenswood, WGHS Junior and QEGS Junior.

Resources

Only teaching staff are involved in running this activity day and it uses school facilities.

Pupil Involvement

The pupils are all from Year 5 and 364 boys and girls are involved in the planned activity day.

Frequency

This event has been run from 2012 to date and occurs once every academic year.
