State partnership

We have a partnership with several local schools. With one particular school we offer free places on our INSET training days and have formed close partnerships between our staff and theirs so we can all benefit from each others' expertise in various areas. We also offer them workshops for their children in areas we have special knowledge in such as Latin, Spanish, Russian and sign language.

Aims

The aim is to offer support to a local school with very limited resources.

The success criteria will be both schools feeling this is a useful enterprise.

The beneficiaries will be the teachers and the children of both schools.

Background

The Head of CHP approached the Head of Maple Cross.

After the Head teachers met we identified some ways for the partnership to progress such as sharing staff e-mails, training, sports fixtures and helping them to improve their reading levels by inviting their children to attend our author visits.

Resources

The resources needed are mainly down to staff knowledge/expertise and opening opportunities to our partner school.

All teaching staff are involved and this is seen as an on-going project.

There is a financial implication for us as we have to give the staff time to facilitate this and also pay for any INSET training we invite our partner schools to.

Impact

We hope especially to have some impact on the children's progress particularly in inspiring young readers.

Pupil Involvement

As yet there is little pupil involvement other than competing in sporting fixtures.

Frequency

This is an on-going partnership and the frequency will depend on the needs of the partner school.
