Sharing academic facilities
St. Mary's Catholic School, Wimbledon, Year 6 pupils were invited to spend the whole day at Rydes Hill taking part in Forest School, Science and RE activities.
Aims
The day aimed to give St. Mary's pupils the chance to use equipment in our Science Labs to conduct experiments to enhance their learning. They also had the chance to enjoy Forest School and join with our pupils for RE lessons.
St. Mary's staff were keen to see how their pupils responded to Forest School as part their plan to introduce it there.
Background
Rydes Hill Headmistress was former Head at St. Mary's.
Resources
St. Mary's staff and pupils came by train to Guildford. Rydes Hill staff collected them from Guidlford train station and brought them to Rydes Hill by minibus.
St. Mary's staff and pupils enjoyed lunch and playtime with Rydes Hill pupils and staff shared lunch and playground duty.
60 pupils and 5 staff came from St. Mary's.
Pupil Involvement
60 girls and boys from Year 6 joined us for the day.
Frequency
This was initially a one-off event however as it was so successful, future similar events are currently being planned.
