School sport enrichment

Over the last two years, each term, Rokeby School has hosted Latchmere Primary School at its sports field for enrichment sessions focused on cricket, rugby, and football. These regular sessions have provided younger students with access to high-quality sports facilities and coaching, while also fostering collaboration and a shared enthusiasm for physical activity between the two schools.

Background

The partnership between Rokeby School and Latchmere Primary School came about through a shared commitment to promoting physical activity and discussion with the Assistant Head at Latchmere. The opportunity was identified by staff at both schools, who recognised the potential to collaborate and provide students with access to high-quality sports facilities and coaching. Rokeby School, with its excellent sports facilities, was keen to share these resources with Latchmere Primary. This was established in 2023.

Resources

The success of the partnership between Rokeby School and Latchmere Primary School relies on several key resources. Firstly, the use of Rokeby School’s sports facilities is critical, as it provides a high-quality setting for the enrichment sessions in cricket, rugby, and football. Teaching staff from both schools are involved, with Rokeby providing coaching expertise. Non-teaching staff also assist in organising and supervising the sessions. The partnership runs once each term, each session lasts for two hours.

The partnership involves Rokeby financing transport, equipment, and coaching fees, to ensure the sessions are accessible and of a high standard for the pupils involved.

Year 3 pupils from both schools are involved - around 100 pupils in total.
