Primary school student mentoring
Sixth Form students are given mentoring training and then spend 1 hour a week on a ten-week programme, mentoring pupils at a local primary school. These pupils are identified by the primary school as being potentially vulnerable and likely to benefit from weekly one-to-one adult attention. Student mentors go down to St Andrews during one of their study periods to spend time with their mentees.
Aims
The aim is to support vulnerable pupils at St Andrew's School. St Andrew's have identified pupils from Years 4-6 who are in need of regular, reliable adult contact, to promote their pastoral and academic well-being.
Frequency
Ongoing. Once this 10-week programme has finished, a new one will begin in 2022-3 with different students.
