Primary Programming
Primary pupils come to Streatham & Clapham High School to make use of the school's computing facilities and to learn Python Turtle Programming from a specialist teacher.
Aims
The aim of the project is to give local primary pupils the opportunity to learn coding from an expert.
Background
The Head of Digital Learning at Streatham & Clapham High School identified a lack of computing facilities and expertise in a local primary school.
Resources
The project uses a computer room at Streatham & Clapham High School and the expertise of a computing teacher.
SCHS also provides transport for the pupils to the school.
Impact
All pupils become confident in a programming language and enjoy the experience.
Pupil Involvement
There are 14 Year 5 pupils (7 girls and 7 boys).
Frequency
There are four 1 hour sessions over a period of 8 weeks.
The project will be repeated next year.
