Denstone College & Uttoxeter Rotary Club
On Tuesday 14th Match 2023, we were delighted to host the local Rotary Youth Speaks Competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Uttoxeter.

This is a public speaking competition, and invites local school children to speak convincingly on a topic of their choice. It was fantastic to host such a wonderful event, that brought together a number of talented local school children.

The winner's theme was a witty account on why honesty is not always the best policy.

Our Threlfall Library has been opened up to the local community on 4 Saturdays during the Summer Term - 22nd April, 13th May, 10th June & 1st July.

Our library team have introduced a love of stories and rhyme to babies and toddlers, joined by their parents and guardians.

Children's Nursing Student Placements from the University of Derby
We have recently hosted a student on placement from the University of Derby. As part of the course, which is underpinned by the desire to deliver kind, compassionate nursing care, students are required to take a placement of 8 weeks (30 hours per week).

As part of the placement, our hosted student has been based in the Medical Centre, working with our medical team closely daily. They have observed Wellbeing lessons, met with our learning support team and been part of conversations with pastoral staff. Furthermore, they have observed the delivery of immunisations to 3rd form pupils, observed physiotherapy sessions and provided with training by an external provider.
