Community Work
Befriended
Worth Schools partners closely with Befriended to support their work which was "born out of a desire and passion to make a difference in the lives of isolated and vulnerable people."
As well as sending our students on a weekly basis to Befriended to built authentic relationships with their clients, Worth also provides free tickets to school plays and music concerts to provide a calendar of activities and entertainment to the clients that Befriended supports.
We are also very proud of Gail Millar, CEO of Befriended, who received a well deserved Coronation Award for her work in the community through Befriended.
Life Reform Africa
Over the past fifteen years, Life Reform Africa has worked to transform lives in western Kenya, Kitabisi villages. Working with the local church, Life Reform have built a primary school to provide free education for 150 orphan children, dug boreholes to provide clean drinking water, and set up a vocational training school to teach tailoring skills to single mothers, widows and vulnerable teenage girls, enabling them to gain economic independence, providing wheelchairs and glasses for the physically and visually impaired and supporting widows.
Staff of Worth School have supported the work of Life Reform over a number of years and now the school is launching a partnership with Life Reform through the school's Mission Team. The aim of this partnership is to build an authentic relationship between members of the Kitabisi school and the Worth Community, with students making contact with Life Reform throughout their time at Worth. This culminates in a Mission Trip to Kitabisi at the end of Year 12 for a mutually beneficial exchange of 'Caritas' (the love between peoples - Pope Francis).

Mary's Meals
Worth currently supports two African schools through Mary's Meals, providing a school meal every day for each child allowing them to choose education over food and helping to lift them out of generational poverty.
Aims:
Develop authentic relationship with a global charity providing a significant, sustainable and long lasting benefit to its community with a tangible impact of support from the school.
Establish relationships between students and staff at Worth and their counterparts at the schools we support.
Working towards a visit to the school at the end of a students time at worth to meet people they have been in contact with during their time here.
Background:
Worth has supported Mary's Meals since 2018 and so far raised well over £40,000 for the Charity.
Resources:
The school uses educational materials and resources to assist in educating our students about the work of Mary's Meals. We also support fundraising efforts led by students as part of the servant leadership pathway through school. The school has financially contributed over £42,000 in the last 5 years and now supports two schools.
Impact:
Mary's Meals is a highly effective and efficient Charity, with 93% of all money raised going directly into providing free meals for students at school. This means that we can accurately show the level of tangible support we are providing. £20 donated to Mary's Meals through our project page will feed a child at one of our schools for a year.
Pupil Involvement:
In Year 9 our students go through the Common Good course which gives them a grounding and understanding of their responsibility to society. This includes letter writing/correspondence with children at Farsee Korma and Mwandakwisano Public Schools. In Year 10 our students actively participate in fundraising for those schools. In Year 11 our students continue correspondence, producing videos and sending Christmas and Easter cards / gifts. In Year 12 our students again lead fundraising projects with the school building towards launching a trip out to Farsee Korma Public School.
Frequency:
Activities related to Mary's Meals run twice weekly, in addition are ad hoc fundraising events and a Lent pudding fast (with saved funds going to Mary's Meals).
