Community Engagement
Year 7 host elderly residents of local care homes at the school where pupils cook and serve them lunch; during these visits activities are planned such as the ‘Poetry Together’ initiative. Year 10 pupils visit elderly residents at St Teresa’s Care Home during the Summer Term to paint and sing with them.
St James Senior Girls' School organises regular local collections by the whole school for Fulham Foodbank.
The Dusty Yak Foundation is our chosen school charity for the second year running. The Foundation aims to relieve the poverty, advance the education and protect and preserve the health of orphans and vulnerable children, primarily in Nepal, by means of educational tuition and practical support. We have raised funds using a variety of means. In addition to the familiar mufti day, cake sale and House quiz approach we have harnessed our love of sport with a sponsored ultra marathon and a virtual whole school 'trek' which equated to the distance from school to the Himalayas; pupils found innovative ways to cover the mileage including horse riding, skipping, swimming, rowing and playing badminton.
During the Summer Lockdown pupils provided bags of food and supplies for 25 families at Avondale Park Primary School, and St James staff joined the Hub at Latymer Upper School teaching the children of keyworkers.
