CLSG Conferences on Climate Action in Partnership with Schroders
As part of its climate action education programme, City of London School for Girls has established an annual conference in partnership with Schroders to raise awareness of the cutting-edge developments around climate action. In June 2024, the first conference on Sustainable Investing brought together a panel of industry experts to share some of their work and answer some challenging questions posed by the High School Divestment and Reinvestment Coalition.
This was followed by the second conference in March on Innovation and Climate Action where three entrepreneurs and a finance provider explained how their businesses were aiming to provide a climate solution. The director of Imperial College’s Grantham Institute also outlined how they were providing support to start-up businesses in this space to establish themselves.
Aims
As part of its climate action education programme the City of London School for Girls has established an annual conference, in partnership with Schroders, to raise awareness of the cutting-edge developments around climate action and promote a sense of agency amongst a wide variety of stakeholders in the Square Mile.
Background
In June 2024, the first conference on Sustainable Investing brought together a panel of industry experts to share some of their work and answer some challenging questions posed by the High School Divestment and Reinvestment Coalition.
This was followed by the second conference in March 2025 on Innovation and Climate Action where three entrepreneurs and a finance provider explained how their businesses were aiming to provide a climate solution.
Resources
These conferences are created with the support of our partnership with Schroders.
Impact
Both conferences had a mixed audience which included A-level students from a number of different schools, professionals working in the square mile, City of London Corporation employees and Livery Company members. They have been held at the Schroders office in London Wall where students have had the opportunity to network with industry professionals and become more aware of the many exciting career pathways that could empower them to take climate action in their working lives.
The most common theme in the feedback from the students is:
“The conference was amazing – we feel very inspired."
Pupil Involvement
The pupils attending were from Year 12 across various partner schools.
Frequency
This conference started in 2024 and is hosted yearly.
