Athletics at Handcross Park School
Handcross Primary School are part of the NEARS (North Eastern Area of Rural Schools) partnership with then other local schools and host their annual Athletics meeting in the grounds of Handcross Park School, as part of an ongoing series of inter-school tournaments.
Aims
These events promotes a high standard of inter-school competition with the associated benefits of well being and fitness.
To provide a large space and facilities to safely hold an inter-school athletics competition between schools.
Up to ten local schools benefit from the event.
Resources
The athletes are able make use of the first class facilities on offer at Handcross Park, including a long jump pit, throwing arena and running track and offers parking for parents and visitors.
Impact
Handcross Primary School have achieved the Gold Standard Kite Mark award for their provision of PE. The School Games Mark is an awards scheme that rewards commitment to the development of sports competition across the school.
Frequency
This is an annual event that we hope will continue into the future.
