Alleyn's sport partnerships with local schools

Sports Fixtures with local State Schools

Every term we host sports fixtures with a variety of local State Schools. We work very closely with Dulwich Hamlet Junior School and Belham Primary in all the main sports across Years 3 – 6. The aim is to offer a fun and inclusive sporting experience, forging pupil friendships across schools that are built through sporting interaction. This is well established and has been operating for several years. It became clear that pupils from the three schools lived close together and had several shared experiences and so there were numerous benefits to them playing sport together. These events forge friendships across the schools and by implication across the State and Independent sectors. All pupils and genders from Years 3 - 6 experience these events at some point during their Primary School journey. This is a well-established rolling programme across the academic year.

Alleyn's Junior School Football Tournaments

Every year we host a series of Alleyn's Junior School Football Tournaments for Years 3 - 6 with an additional U11 Girls Football Tournament. The aim of the competitions is to offer our facilities and experience to a wide range of schools and to increase their involvement in school sport. Our Junior School Director of Sport identified a need for competitions across the academic year that could involve local state and independent schools. We offer use of our extensive playing fields to selected local schools. We organise and administer several football tournaments each academic year across all age ranges and genders. We also run annual CPD (continuing professional development) events for coaching staff in local schools. This scheme has a huge impact with hundreds of children participating each academic year. Pupils get the opportunity to play in a tournament environment and learn about football in an inclusive manner. Over 700 children attend from both local independent and state schools. State schools who attend include Bessemer Grange, Dulwich Hamlet, Belham Primary, Honeywell, Rosendale, Stockwell Primary, Heber, Goodrich and St Anthony's. This is a well-established and ongoing programme of league and cup competitions across the academic year.

Football Association Community Hub

Alleyn's Junior School has been appointed by the Football Association as a Hub School. AJS offers its large extensive playing fields to the ISFA association for the U8 - U11 Boys Football Competitions and U10 - U11 Girls Football Competitions. Alleyn's Head of Football/Director of Junior School Sport has co-ordinated this exciting development. The objective of the partnership is to promote excellence in football and to offer facilities and experience to a wide range of schools. A Football Association Hub School is a centre of excellence promoting good practice across teaching and learning. We offer use of our extensive playing fields to selected local schools and organise several football tournaments each academic year across all age ranges and genders. We also run annual CPD events for coaching staff in local schools while hundreds of children get the opportunity to play in a tournament environment and learn about football in an inclusive manner. Both genders are involved from U8 - U11 across both state and independent sectors. This is a well-established and ongoing programme of league and cup competitions across the academic year.
