Impact Statement
Primary School Sports Day 2018
“I want to say thank you to you both and your lovely students and staff who worked so hard to make the Maths Enrichment day and Sports Day such great events. Our Year 3-6 pupils had such a brilliant time. Your Year 7 Hall boys are great ambassadors for your school. They worked so well with the children; they treated them with great respect and supported them in such a mentoring way. They should be very proud of themselves”. Headteacher of Richard Cobden Primary School
Give Back Day 2018 involved 110 Hall Year 4 and 5 boys volunteering in the local environment. Several groups visited a Home for the Elderly and spent the morning gardening and planting bulbs. Others went to The Winch (a local community centre providing children’s after school care) and gave the premises and grounds a ‘spring clean’. “I just wanted to say a big thank you for choosing Rathmore House to be a part of Give Back Day at The Hall school. I think the boys had a great time, they were excited and keen to help organise, clean and plant the vegetable seeds. It was so kind for them to bring the donations of games and puzzles for our residents, so please let them know again, how much we appreciate their hard work, thought and gifts”. Manager of Rathmore House
French in Primary Schools
French language teaching and teacher support for 2 days a week was provided in two Camden primary schools, Fitzjohn’s Primary and Christ Church Primary throughout 2018, reaching 140 children and 4 teachers in each school on a weekly basis. “M and now G have provided excellent teaching and learning opportunities for our children over the year and we have so pleased to be able to continue to offer French as part of our curriculum, an MFL provision that we could not afford without this partnership that helps in the transition of the Year 6s to their secondary schools”. Head Teacher of Fitzjohn’s Primary School.
CPD at The Hall
“The quality of the CPD sessions our teachers have attended at The Hall has been phenomenal! In building a partnership with you, it has been so satisfying to know that your specialist Art, Science, History and Music teachers at The Hall are willing not just to give their time and effort to teach our pupils directly, but also they have been willing to share their passion for their subject and in CPD sessions have nurtured confidence and skills in our teachers. The resources and lesson plans that you have shared have been SO helpful”. Head Teacher Christ Church Primary N1
Saturday Club 2018
“Thank you all so much for giving R and so many other children the chance to experience Maths, English, Art and Science at another level of discovery. R absolutely loved her Saturday Club days at The Hall. After each session, she explained what she’d done and boasted to all who came to the house!” Parent of a Saturday Club attendee.
Primary School Governor Perspective
Thank you, as a Governor in Christ Church Primary, for all The Hall’s input, along with the Year 8 boys’ mentoring, in visiting our school and building a bridge between us. The CC kids are incredibly fortunate to have benefitted from the relationship building with The Hall through the weekly teaching input and support from your Partnership Coordinator giving them aspirations and a desire to learn outside of their current context. Thank you to everyone involved who has made all these activities happen over this last academic year. It really has made a difference. And don’t forget it’s not just the children you encourage - it really boosts the teachers and staff too, so your help ripples outwards.” Christ Church Primary School Governor
Impact on Hall students
Now into its third year, Chess Club at The Winch is run by three Year 6 Hall boys as a weekly after- school club for a group of 10 primary school children who attend a local community project called The Winch in Camden.
“Just a quick note to say how worthwhile the Winch project has been for the Hall boys. I can see a change in their attitude and confidence and it’s lovely to see the bond they have made with the children they are teaching. We had an end of term prize giving to celebrate the competition that the Hall boys had organised and most of The Winch children gave little talks on what they learned and how grateful they were for the time they had been given. I think our Hall boys felt proud to be able to give them something to help with their continued learning too. It was a special moment that I think our boys will remember for a long time”.
