Impact Statement

We organise free CPD for Primary School teachers in our region. Previously this has included Maths and Computing; this year the focus is Music.

Author/educational visits are embedded within our outreach programme to Primary Schools and this year we have welcomed Julian Clary, The Hairy Bikers, Ben Lyttleton, David Edwards, The History Man and Cerrie Burnell. This has been hugely beneficial for over 600 children developing their imagination and creative writing skills, as well encouraging self guided reading.

GCSE drama students from local state school attend a matinee of our annual musical production and use the performance as a critical exercise for analysis and feedback.

We host lectures from the Geographical Society - the topic last year was Volcanos with leading specialist David Edwards presenting. GCSE and A Level students from all over the region attended the evening lecture (free of charge) as the topic is in most exam specifications.

We host a Careers Fair and Higher Education Fair in alternative years open to all - with over 200 students and parents attending and 80+ institutions or careers represented.
