Impact Statement

We provide an after-school football training programme, open to local primary school pupils on a weekly basis during term time, at no cost to the participants. It offers an opportunity for children to enjoy an hour's football training, to test and develop their football skills in a safe and fun environment, with a natural progression to the local village football team. https://www.schoolstogether.org/projects/community-football-partnership/

We organise an annual choir competition, open to pupils from surrounding primary and prep schools, enabling prizes to be won for the school that puts forward the winning choir. Visiting teachers say how valuable the choir competition is to the primary age children. It gives them an opportunity to perform, but also compete against other schools and listen to other performances. They explained how this type of event was unique as far as they know, and the chance to share music in a friendly, yet competitive environment was great for their personal and musical development.

We offer academic workshops for the pupils of local primary and prep schools - in science and modern languages, for example. Teachers and pupils who have attended recent language and science days have commented upon how these helped widen the children’s perspectives, and one mentioned how the study of Latin supported the next topic they were studying (the history of language and the Roman empire.)

One member of the senior management team is the safeguarding governor at a local primary school. He also goes to the village primary school to do a Drama workshop and to accompany musicians in concerts. Matinee performances of plays and musicals take place for local primary schools.
