All events hosted by York ISSP have been highly rated by students with over 90% Excellent or very good in each of the evaluations. Student comments from the Summer School have included "It allows me to be a nerd without feeling like an outcast." (State School Pupil) "I enjoy York ISSP events because they give me a chance to be challenged." (State School Pupil). Latin and Astronomy lessons have enabled students from State Schools to go on to study related subjects at University including at Oxbridge. The York Mathematical excellence Club has inspired students to continue Maths to A level and especially Further Maths. It has also encouraged at least five of its undergraduate student coaches from the University of York to embark on Teacher Training.
Overall the impact of York ISSP and Bootham's contribution is to raise the aspirations of students across the city and provide a challenging yet relaxed forum for them to excel whilst meeting new friends and working with students from different backgrounds. The ultimate impact of ISSP can be summed up in the numbers who attend and the waiting lists for events. If a parent and student sees an event is run by the partnership they know it will be outstanding and will apply.
