Impact Statement

Pupils from South Moreton Primary School (Years 4, 5 and 6: Herons and Red Kites Groups) use the swimming pool at Cranford House School every week during the Summer Term. They are taught to swim by Cranford House's swimming coach.

The aim is to foster a close partnership with a local state school and help to raise the standard of swimming skills for the 40 - 50 or so pupils who attend every week. They also have lots of fun!

The end result is a marked improvement in the confidence and swimming ability of pupils. Every child receives a certificate of completion at the end of the 6-week course.

We also run a Choral Day for local primary schools who attend the school for the day and enjoy a day of choral workshops run by our Music Department staff. Pupils then perform at the end of the day for their parents in a concert in our Willow Theatre.

All partnership events promote a feeling of inclusion within the community. Pupils are more aware of their social responsibilities and the variety of backgrounds from which local children come.

Parents are thrilled with the increase in confidence displayed by their children after any of these events and teachers enjoy sharing best practice and extending their knowledge. This has also helped to secure relationships and local cluster groups to help share knowledge with local schools.
