Impact Statement

While we make full and extensive use of the excellent scale and range of educational facilities available to everyone in London, our playing fields are rented and we occupy a compact site with few additional facilities of our own. Many of our local state schools occupy more extensive sites than ours and have a good range of additional facilities. Despite approaches from us, local state schools have shown negligible interest in sharing facilities or sporting activities with us.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES

Scholarships and other non means-tested awards are limited to a maximum of 10% of the fees. Some pupils may receive both Scholarship and Bursary support.

Academic Scholarships. The Governors offer a small number of Scholarships for boys showing outstanding intellectual promise. These awards can continue throughout a boy’s Willington career to the end of Year 6, subject to a satisfactory annual review. Scholarships are available from Year 3 upwards and are assessed internally after joining the School. Annual reviews of a scholar’s performance will be based on assessment grades, twice-yearly reports and the Headmaster’s recommendation to Governors.

Means-tested Bursaries. The School also offers a limited number of means-tested Bursaries, either for potential pupils whose parents declare in advance that they would otherwise be unable to afford the full fees, or for current pupils whose family circumstances change unexpectedly. Levels of bursary support awarded take into account the family income and assets, the family circumstances and the pupil benefit.  In the most extreme circumstances, Bursary support can be as much as 100% of the fees. Parents who might need Bursary support should email the Bursar, [email protected] and will be sent a simple one-page initial application form.
