Impact Statement

As a centre of musical excellence we have established a programme of outreach activities that extend to a broad range of communities and schools including the programme of ‘Notes and Nibbles’ lunchtime concerts, as well as 50 plus events which members of the public can attend. The greatest impact for schools is the provision of ‘Sing up Suffolk’, which in the last two years has involved 38 different primary and junior schools and 1450 pupils. This complements the ‘Blast off” event which has provided an introduction for 160 pupils from 13 schools to brass music. We also provide brass tuition to local primary school children by providing our band master on a weekly basis. We also allow musically talented members of the Holbrook Academy to take part in some of our string ensembles.

We host an established programme of annual events which includes the Suffolk Schools’ Athletics Association with runners from over 75 schools, and the Suffolk Primary Schools’ cross country which attracts over 1500 runners.

The Ipswich Peninsular Triathlon takes place each October with 300 participants each year using the pool and the grounds.

The pupils and staff provide a regular programme of coaching through our Sports Leaders course, providing coaching and games provision to 2 different schools on a weekly basis and host an annual Avenues East Games for support groups and schools for adults and children with disabilities and learning difficulties. Some 200 people enjoy a sports day supported by the RHS year 11 pupils.
