Impact Statement

In January 2018, we invited children from a nearby Primary State School to join our Year 6 pupils on a visit to the Houses of Parliament for a tour with our local MP. The children from the local school were collected free of charge in our school minibus and were transported to our school to join a larger hired coach for the journey to London. The entire cost of the trip was borne by our school. The children enjoyed an informative day which gave them an insight into the workings of how a Government works as part of the PSHE/Citizenship Curriculum. This type of trip would not be cost-effective for the local Primary School to take part in otherwise than by joining in the arrangements made by our school.

Also in January 2018, we hosted 12 local Primary State Schools (41 children) for a Maths Mastermind Workshop. The visiting schools enjoyed the use of our facilities and staff for a morning of Fun and Challenging Maths. The aim of the day is to raise the profile of mathematics teaching and the staff from the visiting Primary Schools gained valuable teaching resources from the Hertfordshire SETPOINT Maths Advisor & Assessor.

In June 2018, we heard that a local Forest School facility at Panshanger Park, which was used by many local State Schools, was closing down. We wrote to 10 local Primary State Schools to offer the use of our Forest School facility free of charge if the visiting school could provide a teacher to take the sessions. Unfortunately, none of the schools contacted responded but the offer to use the facilities is still available if anyone in the area wishes to contact us.

In September 2018, we hosted an evening free seminar with a leading professional speaker on Growth Mindset Education. The seminar was attended by 4 teachers from local State Schools and provided these teachers with access to expertise on practical ideas to make a real difference to children's education.

Again in September 2018, we hosted a, free of charge, Saturday morning Science Event called "Whizz Bang and Wings". We publicised this event in a mailshot to local State Schools and to members of the general public via Social Media advertising. There were workshops run by our own Science Staff alongside the expertise of teachers from a local Children's Science Club. Around 6 pupils from local State schools took part alongside some of our own pupils.
