Supporting the local community

Students and staff at Redmaids' High Junior School support the local community in a number of ways:

Feeding the homeless
A Redmaids’ High pupil led the collection of enough socks, gloves, toothbrushes and other toiletries to make up 30 backpacks for homeless people in Bristol and worked with the charity Feed the Homeless. Having spoken to a number of people, the pupil found out that a few basic items would make an improvement to their lives.

Fundraising for Alzheimers
Year 5 Redmaids’ High juniors gave up their time to raise money for Alzheimers BRACE with a cake sale at a local church hall.

Bristol North West Food Bank
Redmaids’ students collected food for the North West Food Bank as part of the Harvest collection in September.

Freelance Mum Partnership
Redmaids’ provided the venue for Freelance Mum’s events, where women can listen to keynote speakers and network with one another.

Bristol Zoo Gardens Partnership
Redmaids’ is helping to save lemurs from extinction, by sponsoring the lemur walk-through and enclosure at Bristol Zoo Gardens.

Westbury Fields Care Home
Redmaid’s has a link with Westbury Fields Care Home. Every term girls visit the home, where they perform to the residents (singing, handbells). The girls also get involved in activities with the residents such as card making or decorating and planting up a pot. The visits take place once a term.

Local Musical Performances For the Community
Redmaids' High Junior School pupils perform at different events for the local community such as the choir and handbell group performing at Henleaze Christmas Market.
