Student Volunteering

Students engage in meaningful volunteering at all ages and have contributed thousands of collective hours to the local community.

Some examples of ongoing volunteering efforts include:

Bristol North West Food Bank
BGS staff and students (5 Year 9-14 students) regularly volunteer once a week at Bristol's North West Foodbank. The Foodbank is run by the Trussell Trust; aiming to give basic provisions to the local community and reducing inequality.

They agree that our partnership with BGS has provided a positive impact for a number of people within their organisation.

'It is a pleasure having the students volunteering at the Foodbank. It is great to see them putting such an effort into working in our warehouse to sort the food that goes to vulnerable people in Bristol. We really enjoy having them.'

St Josephs Carehome
Every Year 7 student visits St Josephs care home for 2 hours across 2 weeks and writing letters to their residents. BGS' Community Action Club also provide weekly visits to speak and read with residents and offer support. Across the year musical groups visit St Joseph's to provide some entertainment, including Christmas Carols in December and our staff musical afternoon.

St Jospeph's strongly agree - 'Our partnership with BGS provides a positive impact for a number of people within my organisation.'

'The residents look forward and enjoy the BGS students and Staff coming in to see them'.
