Staff volunteering

Our staff are actively involved in volunteering in the community. 

One of our Prep staff has been volunteering for the Scouts since 1998.  This involves daily tasks, such as looking after safeguarding concerns, helping with training and supporting volunteer managers in the local area.  Ensures safe and smooth delivery of activities in the local area to make sure children can continue to benefit from the great opportunities available.

Our Head of Drama is chair of a local organisation supporting refugees in our area. The group was originally established in 2016 to assist with the government resettlement scheme for Syrian refugees. She has been involved throughout, and the organisation has grown to include sub-groups for Syrian, Afghan and now Ukrainian refugees.  Support includes sourcing accommodation, providing practical guidance and advice when the refugees arrive, helping develop their language skills and collecting items they might need, e.g. fridge, television. The group also offers social events to help the refugees build a local network.

Background

The staff member has always been involved in Scouts, and volunteered in her home area growing up, and then joined a local group when she moved to London.
