St Neot's, Eversely Tennis Club
St Neot's Preparatory School provides a local Tennis club with use of the school tennis facilities and coach. This provides the community with greater resources and new facilities. The school also runs a club night and cardio tennis event. Provision of courts is for club members.
Aims
The aim of the project is to develop links with the local community. There was a need for courts in the village and we were able to assist with this in order for the club to grow in membership. Greater participation, club numbers and the ability to run tournaments and matches will determine the success of this partnership. The immediate beneficiaries are members of the local community.
Background
The partnership came about through local need. The school was approached to see if it could help and the idea of collaboration developed through this initial contact. Our tennis coach identified this as an opportunity to develop links with the local community.
Resources
The School tennis courts and tennis equipment are used and the school tennis coach provides coaching. The school tennis coach (a qualified Davis Cup legacy coach) provides approximately 1.5 hours twice a week. Eversley pay a nominal fee for use of the courts.
Impact
Outcomes are still being evaluated. It is hoped that this will grow into a strong club.
Pupil Involvement
Boys and girls from both the school and the local community attend the sessions. Ages range from 4-15 years.
Adult sessions are also available, open to members of the local community and school parents.
Frequency
The school tennis coach (a qualified Davis Cup legacy coach) provides approximately 1.5 hours twice a week.
This is an ongoing activity.
