Science Summer School
Withington hosts and runs science events in the summer holidays for Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) pupils.
The Science Summer School runs as part of Withington’s various Summer School programmes, which provide activities for local primary and secondary school students during the summer holidays.
One of Withington’s Chemistry teachers ran the Summer School with the assistance of Withington’s Science Technicians.
Withington’s state-of-the-art science laboratories were used for the events, which allowed pupils from partner schools to access more advanced scientific experiments and equipment.
The Key Stage 4 Summer School helped improve students’ understanding of science with a view to extending knowledge and boosting attainment for their upcoming GCSE examinations.
All students that attended the Summer School benefited from the specialist teaching provided.
55 pupils attended the Summer School in total, 25 from Key Stage 2 and 30 from Key Stage 4.
The Key Stage 2 Summer School lasted two days. The Key Stage 4 Summer School took place over one day.
