Saturday School at Marymount

Provision of enrichment lessons and activities for pupils from St Joseph's Primary School, utilising the premises and facilities at our girls day and boarding school.  

Aims

To provide Year 5 and Year 6 pupils with enrichment lessons in a variety of subjects, to supplement their core education. Subjects covered include;

 - Creative writing

 - Science

 - Art and Design

The immediate beneficiaries of this partnership are the pupils from St Joseph's Primary School (27 - 2021/22).  

The partnership affords the opportunity for Marymount students to develop leadership and organisational skills in planning and delivering lessons.  

Resources

 - Four members of staff per session, approximately 90 staff hours in total.  

 - Provision of classrooms, art and design equipment, sports equipment, science laboratories and use of the school grounds.  

 - Provision of two mini buses and drivers to collect and drop off pupils.

 - Snacks and drinks.

Impact

Children in Year 5 and Year 6 at St Joseph's School Kingston really benefit from attending the Saturday School offered by Marymount. Our children have been lucky enough to benefit from the generosity of the outreach from both the staff and students of Marymount and they really enjoy the sessions. Pupil Involvement

Marymount students in Grades 10 to 12 (Years 11 - 13), plan and deliver the lessons to the visiting pupils, supervised by a combination of teaching and non-teaching staff.  

Frequency

10 weeks, each academic year.  

Marymount has been working in partnership with St Joseph's for a number of years and continues to do so.
