Kingswood Court Nursing Home

Epsom has a long tradition of serving the local community. Epsom’s service programme is now in its seventh year and, unlike programmes at other schools, this activity is not limited to a single day, week or term, but happens all year round. Service is timetabled, and forms a central part of the co-curricular programme.

To date, over 260 pupils, in over 35 different placements, have volunteered more than 13,500 hours.

Kingswood Court Nursing Home in Tadworth is one of Epsom College’s local service partners. The care home provides nursing, dementia and residential care for up to 59 residents. Epsom College pupils have been working with the team across a range of activities including piano recitals, chess games and cards. Students have also joined in with the home’s new initiative, a digital ‘Music Memory’ programme, working with residents to create customised playlists for individual residents that evoke strong positive memories.

Due to the residents’ medical needs, many are not able to lead as active a life as they might like and  Epsom College students have injected a renewed energy that makes a real difference to their day. The pupils have enjoyed their sessions and have been able to appreciate the value of volunteering and the positive influence they can have.
