Kingston Lacy
Pupils act as volunteers for the National Trust. Help has included apple picking, manure spreading, rose 'tickling', pruning and the usual range of gardening activities. They work both in the kitchen garden and the formal gardens surrounding the house.
Due to the Covid pandemic - this partnership has been paused until the organisation feels it safe to accept volunteers again.
Aims
Volunteering helps both the National Trust and the pupils (who might otherwise not have visited the building).
Background
Canford approached the National Trust offering to help.
Resources
All volunteering takes place at Kingston Lacy. One member of the Canford teaching staff stays with the pupils throughout the afternoon.
Pupil Involvement
A group of six 6th form pupils, girls and boys, spend two hours there on Mondays.
Frequency
Every Monday afternoon throughout the year.
