Cross curricular language opportunities
Partnership working across our schools to give pupils both the opportunity to practice language acquisition in conversational settings and time to consider different curriculum areas such as reading, science and citizenship.

To promote language acquisition and cultural understanding.
What was the identified need? Opportunities to practice speaking in target language.
What are the critical factors for success? Time spent together in formal and less formal settings.
Background
The partnership came about between the schools after discussing mutual needs. Instituto approached Bevington to offer support, this support was welcomed by Bevington.

Teachers and pupils are critical to the success of this partnership.
Use of school facilities.
Impact
We assess improvements in speaking Spanish and in understanding of Spanish culture as a result of this work.
Children are more able to converse more effectively in Spanish and to understand aspects of Spanish culture and education.
Pupil Involvement
Pupils from Y2-6 will be involved from Bevington. Pupils of same age and older will be involved from the Instituto Español Vicente Cañada Blanch.
Frequency
This will continue until the end of academic year in first instance but hopefully these events will become a regular calendar fixture.
