Conservation
We assist the local volunteer group with clearing and conservation work on the Ashlawn Cutting Nature Reserve.
Aims
To support a local community initiative.
Background
This partnership has been running for at least 15 years so the background and inception are no longer on record.
Resources
This involves 5 teaching staff whose duties are rotated throughout the year. The project is overseen by a keen member of the non-teaching staff who is also a member of the Trust.
Impact
The feedback from the Trust has been highly positive and comments from members of the local community who use the reserve to walk their dogs has been encouraging. The school's work was recognised and praised in a recent edition of the Wildlife Trust magazine.
Pupil Involvement
Mixed gender. Involves over the course of the year around 50 year 11 pupils.
Frequency
Each Wednesday afternoon between 2.00-4.00pm.
