Community Engagement
Palmers Green High School (PGHS) is actively involved with the local community.
PGHS collects coats, sleeping bags and blankets to donate to St James’ Church, Islington. The items are distributed to the homeless in the area local to the Church. The donations are welcomed and necessary as the weather becomes colder for people living on the streets.
PGHS collected and sent 10 boxes of books along with pencils and plastic bowls to schools in Africa. It took some time for the pallet to reach the schools but they were delighted with the books and new bowls.
Pupils in Year 9 and 10 do much of their DofE volunteering work in the local community in for example, charity shops, libraries and care homes.
The pupils at PGHS are always very keen to raise money for charity and do so on a regular basis.
PGHS has enabled the staff running the lunch club at the Church of St James', Islington to achieve their Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety certificates through our School CPD training programme.
The PGHS choirs have sung at a number of community events during the Census year to support a range of charities and organisations.
The School has enabled the three levels of orchestra that make up the London Children's String Orchestra to rehearse at PGHS in preparation for their end of term concert.
